Enquire about Nikki Monaghan

Nikki studied at the Scottish College of Textiles and over the years she has worked as an interior stylist, designer, community based artist and artist. She has had the joy of painting full time now for 12 years and she now works from her studio in Falkirk.

Her subject matter ranges from landscapes and seascapes to quirky birds and figures. She loves colour and her paintings evolve by layering up acrylics and oil pastels, creating textures within her paintings. Working from memory allows Nikki’s work to take on a stylised abstract feel.

Nikki is influenced by the Scottish landscape where there is a never-ending source of inspiration. Landscapes become fabrics of texture highlighted by the excitement of colour and a narrative feel comes into play with the naive figures and animals that appear within her art.

Often a starting point can be a colour which provokes a feeling that Nikki wants the viewer to take on…….the subjects in the artwork then follow. Her painting palette ranges from bright to soft and subtle. This can be inspired by a memory of a particular place or the stimulating day to day that takes effect through Nikki’s art.

Nikki exhibits in galleries throughout the UK and sells privately overseas.
