Enquire about Maggie Moore

Maggie studied Visual Art at Bretton Hall College of Leeds University. On graduating in 1979 she went on to teach art in secondary schools in South Yorkshire and Beverley. In 1986 she moved to London to pursue a career as a practising artist while continuing to teach art part time in a sixth form college.

She very soon established a reputation for her equestrian work which captured a sense of movement and energy, exhibiting regularly with the Osborne Studio Gallery in Covent Garden, Cork Street and Belgravia.

In 1992 Maggie returned to East Yorkshire and continued to paint and exhibit widely while bringing up her two young children.

Increasingly influenced by the wildlife of the Yorkshire Wolds, she began to paint the animals and birds that she saw around her home while still capturing the sense of energy and movement that she had developed in her equestrian paintings.

Maggie finds inspiration within themes of religion, mythology, poetry and literature. Most of her work is her visual interpretation of a poem, legend or passage that she has read.
