Enquire about David Baumforth

David creates atmospheric landscapes and seascapes using watercolours and water based paints. Living in East Yorkshire, Baumforth’s work has been compared to Turner and his work combines a contemporary viewpoint with the tradition of the Northern European Romantic Painters, capturing the elemental power of nature.

He is a nationally and internationally respected painter and has exhibited widely in both one-man and group shows, including The Summer Show at The Royal Academy, The Royal Watercolour Society Open and The Hunting Prizes at The Royal College of Art. Price winner in the Not the Turner Price 2003.

The Yorkshire coast and its hinterland are the inspiration for his work and he occasionally combines his painting with his other passion for cars by undertaking motor sport commissions.

To Baumforth art is an expression of intellect and joy, and it is the depth of perception portrayed in his paintings, its rawness and passion that has impressed critics such as William Packer and Sister Wendy Beckett.
